  • Honey Road on Church Street Marketplace remains a go-to for creative Mediterranean flavors. 
  • May Day in the Old North End is a rad spot that features seasonally inspired foods to pair with a stunning collection of cocktails and wines.
  • Farmhouse Tap & Grill remains a local institution for farm-to-table gastropub fare, with a gorgeous carved wood bar, a heated outdoor beer garden, and locally sourced meat from Vermont farms like Tamarack Farm and Vermont Heritage Grazers. 

For something sweet at the end of the day

The classics are still going strong. Vermont's own Ben & Jerry's has a scoop shop on Church Street, or you can make the trek to Waterbury to tour the factory. The maple creemee, Vermont's iconic take on soft serve, remains the quintessential summer treat, available at stands across the area. Stop by Shy Guy Gelato for rotating house-made flavors, or visit Lake Champlain Chocolates' flagship location on Pine Street for chocolate, ice cream, and milkshakes, and even a guided chocolate tasting.

Activities

The Burlington Bike Path stretches 7.5 miles along Lake Champlain, with views opening up at every turn. Church Street Marketplace anchors downtown with pedestrian energy, local shops, patios, and street performers. Out on the water, the Spirit of Ethan Allen turns the lake into a front-row seat to the Adirondacks.

The South End Arts District on Pine Street is home to local businesses and restaurants with a fun, artistic vibe, worth an afternoon wander. The Burlington Farmers Market on Saturday mornings is also a fantastic way to experience local Vermont producers.

ECHO, the science museum on the waterfront, is great for learning about Lake Champlain's ecosystem. The Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, an Art Deco landmark opened in 1930, is Burlington's cultural pulse, hosting everything from ballet to symphony to live music.

The Vermont Comedy Club is a locally owned performing arts venue featuring standup, improv, and sketch comedy.

Head south to the Shelburne Museum for historical buildings, beautiful gardens, and a 220-foot steamboat. While in Shelburne, check out Fiddlehead Brewing and Folino's Pizza, or stop by Shelburne Vineyard for a wine tasting.

Breweries

Seasonal Activities

Fall foliage through Smuggler's Notch is as spectacular as ever. Pair it with a stop at Cold Hollow Cider Mill for fresh cider donuts and a visit to Cabot Creamery for all things cheese.

Winter visitors should consider Stowe Mountain Resort, Sugarbush, or Bolton Valley for skiing and snowboarding. In the summer, Burlington Surf Club offers paddleboard rentals, kitesurfing lessons, and open-air yoga on the waterfront. You can also catch a Vermont Lake Monsters baseball game or a Vermont Green FC soccer match for some local sports flavor.
